CNW Group and The Equicom Group raise over $50,000 in support of Children's Aid Foundation at their annual charity golf tournament
TORONTO, Nov. 25 /CNW/ - CNW Group and The Equicom Group are thrilled to
announce a donation of $52,607.35 to the Children's Aid Foundation, a national
organization committed to improving the lives of abused and neglected
children. This represents the sum of monies raised from corporate sponsors,
donors and players who took part in the 4th Annual CNW Group/Equicom Group
Charity Golf Classic tournament, held August 19th at the Glen Abbey Golf Club
in Oakville, Ontario.
"The Children's Aid Foundation is grateful for the tremendous amount of
work that went into organizing the tournament," said Ann Bernard Ball,
Executive Director of The Children's Aid Foundation. "The dollars raised will
have a lasting impact on high-risk children and youth. These young people are
truly the most disadvantaged in our communities. The majority of them have
experienced abuse and severe neglect. Breaking the cycle of abuse and poverty
in which so many of them are trapped is our number one priority."
"Equicom supports The Children's Aid Foundation and this tournament
exemplifies how companies like The Equicom Group, CNW Group and our partners
can successfully raise funds to support charitable causes which directly
benefit our communities," said Barry Hildred, President of Equicom. "I would
like to thank all the volunteers who made this day such a success and I look
forward to seeing everyone again next year, when we hope to raise even more
funds for another important charitable cause."
"This would not have been possible without the generosity of the numerous
clients, suppliers, partners and friends who supported our event," said
Carolyn McGill-Davidson, President and CEO of CNW Group. "Charity golf
tournaments are an excellent way for corporate Canada to give back to the
communities in which we live and work. We would like to thank everyone
involved for making this fundraising event a success."
The CNW Group/Equicom Group Charity Golf Classic has raised more than
$130,000 in the past four years for national children's charities. The
proceeds from last year's golf tournament were donated to Kids Help Phone.
