TORONTO, May 12 /CNW/ - Mr. Paul Potts, Chairman of the Board of
Directors at CNW Group, is pleased to announce that Carolyn McGill-Davidson
will succeed Tom Enright as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CNW
Group, effective September 1, 2008. Mr. Enright will step up to a new role
with the firm as Deputy Chairman of the Board.
Since 1999, Ms. McGill-Davidson has served with the company in a
succession of senior management positions, starting as Director of Marketing
and Communications. Under Mr. Enright's leadership, Carolyn successfully built
upon the company's position as the country's leading newswire by expanding its
range of offerings for public relations, communications and investor relations
professionals. The growth from these new lines of business has contributed
significantly to CNW's continued expansion and success.
Lauded for her corporate vision, Ms. McGill-Davidson is currently Senior
Vice-President, Sales and Marketing for the firm. In this role Carolyn has
overseen the company's corporate repositioning and rebranding from Canada
NewsWire to CNW Group.
"Carolyn McGill-Davidson has demonstrated the leadership, focus and
team-building skills that have been key to furthering value for the
organization and its clients," said Mr. Potts, who also serves as Group Chief
Executive of the PA Group, owners of the UK's Press Association. "Carolyn is
the right leader to build on the important work of Tom Enright and will
continue to position CNW Group to benefit from new opportunities emerging in
the marketplace."
Mr. Potts saluted outgoing President and CEO Tom Enright for his insight
and dedication to client service.
"In his tenure as President and CEO of CNW Group, Tom Enright guided the
company from a single-focused traditional newswire service to a diverse and
growing multi-platform communications company," said Mr. Potts. "I am
delighted Tom will continue to offer guidance and support to the company in
his new role as Deputy Chairman."
"Tom defined new standards in customer service, focusing on the delivery
of critical business information for investors, in particular," Mr. Potts
continued. "On behalf of our Board, our employees, investors, partners and
customers, we will be forever grateful for Tom's outstanding leadership."
Prior to joining CNW Group, Ms. McGill-Davidson held a variety of
marketing and product management positions within the financial services
industry. These included product management roles at Bank of Montreal and
Canada Trust (now TD Canada Trust) and Director of North American retail
marketing for Thomas Cook foreign exchange services. Ms. McGill-Davidson holds
a Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University and a Masters in Business
Adminstration from York University's Schulich School of Business.
Ms. McGill-Davidson joined CNW Group's Board of Directors in 2003 and was
appointed Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing in 2007. Carolyn will
continue in this role until September, working closely with Mr. Enright and
the Board through the transition.
